Intertidal Walk – Spring Walking Week

April 10 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Join us for a leisurely stroll along the intertidal zone during Spring Walking Week!

Join Bob Tompkins on a fascinating low water walk out to Seymour Tower. Learn about the marine biology and history along the route as you walk on the exposed seabed/reef. Bob will give an overview of an archaeological site that has been named Cluster 1 along the way. From there you will enter a track carved out of the reef by quarrymen in the 1700’s where you can still see examples of their work. Having exited the track in the middle area of the area known as ‘Oregon Gully’, the route then returns to the Refuge Tower and then Seymour Slip. Suitable footwear is required as this is a ‘wet walk’ where you will walk through puddles and gullies.

Time: 1.30 p.m.

Meeting Point: Car Park at Seymour Slip

Duration: 3 hours/ Moderate Walking

Parking: Car Park at Seymour Slip

Bus Route: 1

Guide: Bob Tompkins
