Learn to FIT count with The Pollinator Project

April 28 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free
Are you interested in learning about different pollinator groups and want to do something to help them?

The National Trust for Jersey, part of the Pollinaor Project Jersey Partnership, are inviting you to learn about Flower Insect Timed (FIT) Counts at Victoria Tower.

FIT Counts are simple surveys that focus on counting the total number of insects that visit a particular type of flower in a 10-minute period. Data from FIT Counts feed into both the Jersey Biodiversity Centre and UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme and will be analysed to determine key metrics on pollinator population status and trends. More information can be found on www.pollinatorproject.je .

All ages are welcome to this free event but children must be supervised and any dogs must be on a lead. Please note that very limited parking is available on site and we would encourage everyone who can to walk, cycle or get the bus route 2 to Jeffrey’s Leap if possible.

If you are driving to the site, please park at the side of the road (Rue de la Pouclée et des Quatre Chemins) next to the Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre and walk the short distance to the tower (which is on Le Mont Mallet). The meeting point will be at the Victoria Tower car park (What3Words //overlooks.earlier.touched).

**If using SatNav/Googlemaps to navigate then you should search for the Jersey Accommodation and Activity Centre, rather than the Tower, otherwise Googlemaps will direct you to park at AnnePort and walk up the hill**
