Weekend Conservation Team – Hazel Coppice

3 December 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Coppicing Hazel Trees in Valleé des Vaux

We will be holding a morning session Saturday 3rd December, meeting at D’Auvergne school car park for 9:30 and finishing around 13:00.

The event will consist of coppicing Hazel trees in the small woodlands of Le Don Nerou & Le Don le Gallais in Valley des Vaux.

What does a coppice do? Coppicing is the practice of cutting trees and shrubs to the ground in order to promote a fresh re-growth of the shoots and stems. It also attracts differing species of animals, and prevents the valley floor from drying out.

All the tools/equipment will be supplied, but please do bring your own gloves if possible. Under 18s should be accompanied by an adult, as some activities may not be appropriate for younger volunteers due to sharp tools.

There will be tea and coffee provided. Space is limited so please sign up if you would like to join.

An email will be sent to those who have signed up prior to the day to confirm it is still going ahead.

Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with The National Trust of Jersey and we look forward to welcoming you on to one of our events soon.
